Hello my dear friends from La Plata

Last Monday my students opened the parcel that you sent us! They had not opened it before because they were on vacation and just came back this week! As you can see from the pictures, they were really wild and excited about it! And it was a big mess!

All of them wanted to touch it! We really liked the pamphlets and the map. La Plata's tourist attractions seems really interesting!

Of course I loved the dream catcher! Thanks Andrea! It's lovely and I've already hung it on my front door. My dog keeps looking at it! I guess he really wants it to fall on the ground so he can eat it! He wouldn't dare!

I took the scrapbook home with me the first night to read everything and now it is with the students. Each student is taking it home one day to read it more carefully!

Oh! And we loved the recording! My students listened to it and tried to follow the lyrics you sent! You are so adorable!

Wishing you a wonderful semester at school!

Love you all!

Erika

I had to fight my curiosity not to tear the parcel open as soon as it arrived over a week ago. I had promised my students that I would bring it to class and we would open it together while we commented on the experience. And this is what we did last Thursday. We brought some cakes and we had breakfast together ("business" breakfast we called it).
First we unrolled the posters. We all wanted to be there! Then we passed the book and brochures around. And at last... your scrapbook! There were other teachers in the classroom, too. We all gasped in admiration at such a wonderful piece. The colours, the design, the photos... everything was so attractive that we all wanted to have it in our hands at the same time. After a while, the initial excitement wore off and we could take turns to look at it in more detail.
While the album was circulating around the class, some students help me put the posters on the wall above the blackboard. Now my pupils will be dreaming of Brazilian beaches while I try to teach them Simple Present!
Finally I asked them to summarize in a few lines their las comments about the project. And this is what they had to say:

"I want to say hi to all the boys and girls from Brazil. Everything was super! Bye". Alejandro

"I want to send my greetings to all the kids from Casa Thomas Jefferson and I wish they have a nice school year". Misael

"I'm very happy of participating in this project and meeting people from another country. This allowed me to make great new friends. Lots of kisses and thanks a lot". Melina

"To tell you the truth, I would have liked to participate in this project because it seems it was very good!!!" José, a new student in the class

"Erika: I want to say hi to you and all your students". José Miguel

"I thought this work was very interesting and fun and I will always have nice memories about this project".
"I want to tell Erika that I loved the project. Greetings to you and your students". Anabela Q

"I thought the project was super. I enjoyed meeting you and learning more English. Your country is wonderful. I loved the beaches, the Falls and the Cathedral. Congratulations to all of you on your great job". Carolina

"This project was the best I could do because I learned a lot more English. Congratulations, Erika and kids. Lots of kisses!" Lorena

"I think the project was a very nice experience, because we had the chance to interact. I want to thank both teachers, Erika and Claudia, for this interaction, which was really GREAT. It was a very good experience". Ana Paula

"I loved it. It was great to share this with kids from another country. I hope we can participate with other countries too".
""I want to thank Erika for sharing her idea of this project with us". Andrea

"Erika, I want to send greetings to all of you. Everything was fine". Sebastian

"I thought the project was very good and I had fun sharing and making the scrapbook".
"With my classmates, I feel as if we were family".

What else can I add? I think the excitement was catching. I'm so happy because I saw my students eager to write and communicate, to help each other with their work and to make their pages, the best.
Erika, you're a young and brilliant teacher. My students and I admire you. Thanks a million times for sharing!

Some weeks ago, from our classroom window we could see a big display of trucks in front of the football stadium. The gates were closed and nobody could have a look at what was happening there. Someone told us they were shooting a commercial.
Just a few days before the World Cup started, this commercial was shown on TV. It's a Coca Cola campaign and it's become very popular because it has a catchy melody. It's a variation of Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire".
My 13-year old daughter has learned the words by heart after watching the spot just a few times. Don't expect much. You'll see only a couple of views of the stands. The stadium at the end of the commercial is River Plates's, which is in Buenos Aires.
I know there's another commercial around, which was also shot in "our" stadium. A friend of mine who lives in Miami told me about it. But we haven't seen it here yet. I'll try to get more information and find it on the web. enjoy this one for the time being.

Guaraná Antarctica is a popular guaraná-flavored soft drink in Brazil. It is made of the Guaraná fruit from Northern Brazil. The Guaraná soda was created in 1921 by Companhia Antarctica Paulista, now part of Ambev.

Guaraná is the official sponsor of the Brazilian national football team.

Talking about football, are you ready for the World Cup? I bet you are all very anxious and everyone is talking about it at school and in the streets.

Well, there is a TV commercial showing on Brazilian channels that is a great example of Brazil and Argentina's football rivalry. You really have to watch it!

Click here to watch the TV Commercial

I pretty much understand this football rivalry. After being in touch with you for the past two months, I found out that we are very similar. We have much more in common than I've ever thought about. We all love partying, festivals, music, dancing and, SOCCER! Plus, we both have the best players! Saviola, Crespo, Sorin, Tevez, WOW! Brazilians will have a hard time!

Please, don't be mad about the TV commercial! I bet Maradona won millions to act in this commercial!

Hugs

Hello friends from Argentina!

How are you all doing?

Yesterday I took my camera to the classroom to take a photo of our new friends Beatriz and Fabiana who joined the group later. If you scroll down, you will see their photos. Then, Gabriela wanted to take another photo because she didn't like the one I posted in our blog.

Isabela, Gabriela, Nathália, Fabiana and Beatriz couldn't resist my camera and asked me to take a photo of them together. Aren't they all cute? I love them! They always give me a hard time, but it's fun to be with them.

The boys Igor, Victor and Pedro wanted to show that they are "bad boys", but I guess it didn't work very welll.

Our Brazilian class has been really busy in the past weeks. They had oral test, quizzes, a paragraph to write and a book to read, The Man in The Iron Mask. Do you know this story? There is a movie with Leonardo Di Caprio that tells this story. Maybe you have already seen it. This Monday they have their second very important written test, and they have been studying hard. At least, I hope they are studying hard because they didn't get very good grades last time...
